Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has been crowned ‘People’s Choice – Caribbean Global Leader’ at the Caribbean Global Awards.

She received a record-breaking 3,850 votes in a fiercely competitive field of 58 outstanding nominees.

The T&T leader came ahead of St. Vincent’s Dr. Ralph Gonzalves, Mia Mottley of Barbados, Andrew Holness of Jamaica and Guyana’s Dr. Irfaan Ali, who rounded up the top five.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar posted the CGA’s photo to her Facebook page with the caption “Thanks to all of you who made this happen”.

The CGA says Mrs. Persad-Bissessar’s victory is a powerful testament to her close connections to the community.

It added that the votes were reviewed and validated by a panel of 15 judges, observers and adjudicators from diverse backgrounds.
