Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is calling for an apology from a local newspaper over a recent article.
In a statement shared on social media, he said “In today’s Daily Express on page seven, a story by Sherlan Ramsubhag headlined – “PM defends pan plan … hits back at political analysts” – purporting to report on a public meeting held in La Horquetta on Tuesday night erroneously claims Dr Rowley “lambasted” Dr Winford James, a columnist who regularly writes for the Trinidad Guardian.”
Dr Rowley saysthe article erroneously claimed that he “lambasted” Dr Winford James during a public meeting in La Horquetta on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister insists that he did not take issue with or name Dr James.
He adds that he instead made reference to people teaching political science at UWI, and is aware that Dr James is not a current staffer at the University.
