Penal Debe Regional Cooperation Chairman Gowtam Maharaj is calling on the Social Development Ministry to deliver flood relief grants that were promised since last year.

The Chairman also claimed that planned infrastructural works to alleviate some of the area’s flooding woes were put on hold, as funds have not been released to begin the projects.

He explained to 103.1FM News that monies for 2024/2025 plans were used as payment for 2023/2024 projects.

Mr Maharaj said they have reached a dead end and urged the authorities to resolve the issues before the start of the rainy season.
