The Paria Commission of Enquiry has sought an extension for the submission of its final report to the President.
In a media release, the Commission says its end of August deadline cannot be realized and is asking for an extension of time to November 30th, 2023.
It says new decisions were handed down on June 9th, 2023 in two cases from England and T&T dealing with the importance of proper procedure to be adopted by Commissions.
The Commission notes that not everyone who may be criticized was represented at the Enquiry and, to that end, it has given the parties extra time to provide written responses.
It also says professional commitments of the Commissioners, in particular that of Chairman Jerome Lynch KC, has also caused a delay.
The Commission is examining the circumstances that led to the deaths of four divers in a Paria pipeline last year.
