Paray rules out independent bid for General Election

Outgoing Mayaro MP Rushton Paray says he will not contest the seat as an independent candidate, despite public calls for his candidacy.

A release from Mr Paray said his decision was made in the interest of unity and stability, after consultations with his family.

He added that serving in Parliament and contributing to national development was the greatest honour of his life and indicated his readiness to continue serving the country in any role.

Mr Paray was not selected by the UNC to contest Mayaro in the April 28th General Election, with the party instead opting for Nicholas Morris.
