OWTU: Still no compensation for Paria divers’ families

The families of the divers who died in a Paria pipeline in 2022 are yet to receive compensation, according to the OWTU.

The union’s Pointe-a-Pierre branch President Christopher Jackman, speaking at a memorial site yesterday, said there is a misconception that the divers’ families have gotten justice.

However, he insisted that this is far from the truth.

Back on July 29th, Paria claimed that efforts to process compensation were being “frustrated by lack of information from LMCS and the legal representatives of the affected families.”

In February 2022, Fyzal Kurban, Rishi Nagassar, Yusuf Henry, Kazim Ali Jr and Christopher Boodram were sucked into a Paria pipeline – Boodram was the only one to survive the ordeal.
