Efforts continued overnight in Tobago to contain an oil spill caused by an overturned vessel near Canoe Bay.

The latest update on the situation around 10pm yesterday, the Tobago Emergency Management Agency said work was ongoing to prevent the spill from drifting to the Port of Scarborough.

This included the set-up and mobilization of near-shore oil spill boomers at the Port.

For these works, TEMA has collaborated with Kaizen International, Frontier Divers, Fisherfolk Association of Tobago, Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and private boat owners.
