Over TT$94,000 forfeited to the State

Over TT$94,000 in cash has been forfeited to the State.

According to the TTPS, the money was seized as part of two separate investigations.

In one matter, officers of the Financial Investigations Branch seized $20,600 from a female suspect in June 2017, with investigations conducted into the legitimacy of the cash.

In June 2019, an application for a forfeiture order was filed in accordance with Section 39 of the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Yesterday, Magistrate Adrian Damanie ordered the money, inclusive of all interest, be forfeited to the State.

In the second matter, $73,522 was seized in November 2019 from a male suspect.

The application for a forfeiture order was filed in November 2021, and approved by Magistrate Darmanie yesterday.
