TT$17.7 million dollars worth of high-grade marijuana was seized in South Oropouche yesterday afternoon.
The TTPS says the find came after it acted on intelligence that a major drug trafficking network operating in South West Trinidad had smuggled a large quantity of narcotics over the weekend.
Officers went to an apartment in Dow Village, where they seized:
- 66 packets of US grown marijuana weighing 48.7 kilograms with an estimated street value of TT$12,170,378
- 51 packets of Colombian grown marijuana weighing 51 kilograms with an estimated street value of TT$5,597,097
A 63-year-old man was arrested for Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher says the exercise was part of the TTPS’s ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal drug and firearms trade networks.
