Following the 2023 incident that claimed the life of a WASA worker, OSHA has filed a complaint to the Industrial Court against the water company for six breaches of the OSH Act.

On October 22nd last year, Kern Etienne was killed while working on the sewer and water mains at the San Fernando Licensing Compound.

WASA says immediately after the incident, it launched an investigation which found a number of procedural and safety deficiencies and they contacted attorneys for legal direction.

However, it notes that it has taken steps to ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to without exception.
