Opposition Leader Penelope Beckles-Robinson said her side will not support the total elimination of the demerit points system.
She said, to date, no alternative plan or recommendations have been presented to replace the current system.
She added that they are willing to entertain a review, a view endorsed by former National Security Minister, Marvin Gonzales.
He said the while the demerit points system is not perfect, removing it could be deadly.
Referencing statistics, he highlighted an incremental decline in road-based fatalities since the system was implemented, with a 60% decrease in road deaths by 2020/2021.
