Opposition Leader calls for justice after student’s suicide

A call is being made for justice to be served following the death of young Jayden Lalchan.

A police investigation has reportedly been launched into the death of the 15-year-old St Stephen’s College student, which followed allegations of bullying.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar says if the allegations are proven to be true, justice must be served to those who terrorized Jayden, and to those who may have turned a blind eye.

According to the Trinidad Express, police have recorded statements from a number of people, including parents, teachers and witnesses.

It adds that a file will be handed over to the Director of Public Prosecutions who will decide the way forward.
