The Opposition Leader has accused the Prime Minister of putting a public relations plaster on crime.
Today, PM Dr Keith Rowley assured that government would redouble its efforts to curb acts of violence.
He said there would be operational adjustments to respond to the situation, adding that violence as a way of life has gone beyond concerning to “ridiculous”.
This afternoon meanwhile, the Office of the Prime Minister shared a photo on Facebook showing a meeting with the leadership of the protective services, including Police Commissioner Erla Christopher and Acting Chief of the Defence Staff Group Captain Kemba Hannays.
Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the Prime Minister’s statement has no focus on the root causes of crime.
She also urged Dr Rowley to reconsider his refusal to attend the crime talks with the Opposition, and to include all willing stakeholders to increase the expertise available to the Government.
