Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is urging the banking community to reconsider the use of ATMs for financial deposits by micro and small business operators.
Banks have been directing many transactions to ATMs, and Mrs Persad-Bissessar says while this may be standard in other countries, the process leaves clients vulnerable in T&T vulnerable.
She also pointed to recent incidents in which persons were assaulted, robbed or even killed, after patronising banks at all levels.
As a result, Mrs Persad Bissessar believes the Bankers Association should review its policy relating to ATM transactions.
