The opening ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics will begin at 1:30pm today.

For the first time, this ceremony will not take place in a stadium – instead, athletes will arrive via boat and cruise down the Seine river, ending in front the Eiffel Tower.

The event will also feature surprise performances, as well as the traditional lighting of the Olympic flame.

T&T’s flag bearers for the Olympics are Michelle Lee Ayhe and Dylan Carter.

The ceremony meanwhile is continuing despite suspected acts of sabotage targeting France’s flagship high-speed rail network, as well as cloudy skies and forecast rains.
