Officials find methane gas during Tobago airport works

Works on the ANR Robinson International Airport were suspended over the weekend after the discovery of methane gas.

According to NIDCO, the find was made around 4:30pm on Sunday during a routine pipe installation.

It notes that preliminary testing was undertaken with the support of National Gas Company, while all site activities were suspended.

Around 6pm on Sunday, the gas pressure had significantly dissipated and, although the gas has now fully dissipated, NIDCO says monitoring for its presence at the source will continue.
