A police officer was injured and a loaded firearm seized in St Ann’s.

Officers were on mobile patrol in the area yesterday when they received intelligence relative to a man armed with firearms on Fondes Amandes Road.

On arrival, a group of men was seen fleeing toward a forested area.

As the officers gave chase, several loud explosions were heard, causing them to return fire.

It was later discovered that an officer was shot.

He was taken for medical attention.

A loaded shotgun was found at the scene, however the men were able to escape.
