There was a marked reduction in noise and mud/gas emissions at the Piparo Mud Volcano over the weekend, according to the ODPM.
In a media release, it says there were no noticeable new fissures at the volcano dome, nor any large-scale widening.
The ODPM says the site remains cordoned off due to the ongoing threat posed by sub-surface activity and the sudden expulsion of mud and gas.
