The North West Regional Health Authority says it is investigation “claims of negative treatment” at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

In a statement it says the allegations were made by Rochelle Maxwell regarding the care received by her daughter on January 24th 2024.

It says in light of the “distressing claims” it has engaged in a preliminary discussion with the patient and launched an active comprehensive investigation encompassing all aspects of the incident, including interactions with all medical practicioners involved.

It has also initiated both an internal investigation along with an independent investigation conducted by its Quality department.

The NWRHA assures that once the investigations are completed, the findings will be presented to Ms. Maxwell and her family, along with the recommended action and corrective measures to be taken.
