A comprehensive background noise measurement exercise will take place this week in the Gulf of Paria
According to the Works Ministry, the primary objective is to address and resolve persistent concerns from the public regarding the excessive noise generated by vessels operating near the shore.
It says sophisticated equipment will be used to measure amplified music at various distances from the sea, at carefully chosen locations along the coastline.
It anticipates that each testing session will not exceed 45 minutes at any given location.
The exercise will take place from 6pm on October 31st to 8pm on November 1st and may cause minor inconveniences to the public.
It is being undertaken by the Ministry’s Maritime Services Division in collaboration with the Coast Guard, the Environmental Management Authority and the management of the Pelican vessel.
