NHC monitoring Atlantic developments

A tropical depression or two could form later this week in the Atlantic.

The National Hurricane Centre says an elongated area of low pressure over the central tropical Atlantic continues to produce disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity.

It says while environmental conditions appear only marginally conducive for some slight development, a tropical depression could still form over the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, there is a trough of low pressure that is expected to interact and merge with a strong tropical wave located between the west coast of Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands

The NHC says environmental conditions appear favorable for gradual development, with a tropical depression likely to form during the latter part of this week.
