NGC and Methanex sign new Gas Sales Contract

A new Gas Sales Contract has been signed between the National Gas Company of T&T and Methanex Trinidad Limited.

The agreement was signed yesterday at the Hilton Trinidad and will result in the supply of gas to the soon to be restarted Titan methanol plant at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate.

NGC says operations at Titan had been idled during the pandemic, and with a production capacity of 875,000 metric tonnes per year, it welcomed the 2024 scheduled restart.

Meanwhile, Methanex has announced its intention to idle the operations of its Atlas methanol plant in September 2024, based on economic considerations.

It says the timeframe for idling the Atlas plant also coincides with the expiration of its current natural gas contract.
