News Update: Man shot in Arouca

A shooting incident in Arouca last night has claimed the life of a 27-year-old man.

According to reports, Kerdel Peters was with others at Back Street around 7:45 when gunmen exited a vehicle and shot at them.

Peters was struck, and he attempted to drive to the hospital.

Other drivers on the Main Road saw him bleeding and took him to the Arima facility, but he died a short while later.


Police are investigating the ‘suspicious death’ of a Sangre Chiquito woman early on Saturday morning.

According to a Guardian Newspaper report, 52-year-old Ingrid Khan was found by a relative at the bottom of a staircase with blood at the back of her head.

Investigators said there were no other visible wounds of marks of violence on Khan’s body.


A 60-year-old died at his Guaico, Sangre Grande home on Monday.

The Guardian reported that the man, an amputee, was seen lying on his back gasping for breath.

Emergency health officials were called in, but when they arrived, they found no signs of life.

The article stated that a blood-like substance and froth was seen on his nostril, as well as a bruise on the right side of his face.


Two suspects have been detained, after an off-duty policeman was attacked while attempting to part a bar fight in Curepe on Saturday.

The Trinidad Express reported that the officer was at a bar on the Southern Main Road, when he saw to Venezuelan nationals shouting and breaking beer bottles on the ground.

He attempted to quell the situation, but they broke bottles on his head and attempted to stab him.

Other patrons at the bar restrained the suspects while police were called in.
