At least people have been killed after a vehicle was driven into a large crowd in New Orleans.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the French Quarter which is an area popular with visitors.

BBC News says around 30 other persons have been injured and taken to hospital.

CBS News reports that a truck crashed into the crowd at high speed, and then the driver got out and started firing a weapon, with police returning fire.

Meanwhile, the New York Times says the incident occurred during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
