An MP is calling on government to explain a “multiple-year delay” in negotiations for TTPOST workers.
Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh says a delegation of the Postal Workers Union told him that talks for three bargaining periods did not start because parameters were not provided to management by the government.
He says over 1,200 workers have been living on 2014 salaries, claiming, “Workers in Unit 1 are owed for January 1 2014 to December 31 2016, January 1 2017 to December 31 2020 and January 1 2021 to December 31 2023. Workers in Unit 3 are owed for July 1 2014 to June 30 2017, July 1 2017 to June 30 2020 and July 1 2020 to June 30 2023.”
Mr Indarsingh is calling on Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales to intervene and advise as to when negotiations will begin.
