An MP is calling on the state to honour a memorandum of understanding for a 12% wage increase for Port workers.
Last week, there was a strike by workers in Port of Spain with their union claiming that the Port Authority reneged on the 12% deal.
Port Authority Chairman Lyle Alexander is reported by TV6 as saying that the agreement was sent in 2018 to the CPO who has now presented another offer, with the Port out of the picture.
In a media release Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh says the CPO’s offer of 0-0-2% is slap in the face of the workers and urging the State to honour the 2018 agreement for 12%.
