An MP is raising a number of questions following the partial collapse of Rig 110.
The incident has left 47-year-old Pete Phillip missing and Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh believes it leaves some concerns.
These, he says, includes: what accounted for the collapse, when was the last inspection of the rig by OSHA and did OSHA visit the site and shut it down pending its investigation?
MP Indarsingh is also asking whether it is true that Coast Guard members responded to requests for a rescue without diving equipment.
He believes questions have to be asked, as well, about the effectiveness of Heritage Petroleum’s oversight, in light of the 2022 Paria pipeline tragedy that claimed four lives.
Meanwhile, the rig’s operator Well Services says it continues to collaborate with Heritage Petroleum and has also engaged the support of Vallence Rambharat of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
The HSRT yesterday afternoon said it had completed foot patrols from Cedros to Point Coco in Granville in an effort to locate Pete.
