Almost one week after a bridge collapse at St John’s Branch Trace, the Fyzabad MP says no definite action has been taken by government.

Dr Lackram Bodoe notes that he met with affected residents yesterday and adds that some individuals moved out of their homes to have safer access to medical care in cases of emergency.

He says vehicles remain trapped, while a boat volunteered by a resident is the only means of transport across the river.

The MP notes, “The frustrated, anxious and angry residents wondered aloud whether they have been abandoned by the government in the face of this disaster.”

Dr Bodoe is again appealing to government for urgent and definitive assistance in the matter.
