Cumuto/Manzanilla MP Dr Rai Ragbir says it is important to ensure newborn babies are properly cared for.

His message comes as the world commemorates Infant Protection Day today, November 7th.

In a statement, Dr Ragbir – who is a medical practitioner – says the day focuses mainly on reducing infant mortality and child mortality rates.

He reminds that extra care should be taken to ensure babies are protected from contracting diseases in their first months.

He adds that a baby’s relationship with their parents is the foundation for adequate development, as he underscored the importance of holding, playing, speaking and responding directly to infant tears and needs.
