Opposition MP David Lee believes the nation has lost its reputation as the region’s energy capital.
His statement follows the news that PetroJam is set to supply T&T with 1 million barrels of fuel oil at a cost of US90 million dollars.
Mr. Lee, the Opposition’s Shadow Minister for Energy Affairs, says it is ironic that a once proud oil producing nation now relies on a Caribbean neighbour that is not a traditional oil producer for a fuel supply.
In his release, he said the Opposition warned the government that Petrotrin was more than a refining business, since it made the nation self-sufficient.
