Criticism is being levelled against Paria Fuel Trading Company by an MP after the announcement of its partnership with an NGO.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Paria has teamed up with Pennacool.com for a book donation drive and an online learning platform.

In a media release today, Pointe a Pierre MP David Lee says Paria is boasting of its corporate responsibility but is failing to help the families of the divers who died in the pipeline tragedy in February 2022.

The MP adds that if Paria’s board had the corporate social responsibilities it has boasted of, it would have supported the divers’ families “from the very start.”

MP Lee clarifies that his comments are not a statement against the NGO that Paria has partnered with, noting he is happy for Pennacool.com’s contribution to society.
