The MP for Moruga/Tableland believes the National Security Ministry has neglected her constituency.

Michelle Benjamin’s statement comes after the murder of Judicial Support Officer Stacy Gopaulsingh at her Poui Trace, St Mary’s Village home early this morning.

According to reports, the woman was fatally chopped by bandits who stole money and other valuables around 3am.

MP Benjamin says there have been repeated calls for increased police presence, better resources for police stations in the area and a comprehensive approach to combatting crime.

However, she believes these have all fallen on deaf ears.

Police say murders for 2024 have reached 602, compared to 560 last year.
