The Cumuto/Manzanilla MP is today celebrating the accomplishment of Biche-born Safia Hosein.

On Christmas Day, she became the first T&T citizen to summit the highest mountain in Antarctica, Mt Vinson.

Ms Hosein posted about her achievement on social media including pictures of her on the mountain with a T&T flag and a sign marked “BICHE”.

According to National Geographic, Mt Vinson is the highest mountain in Antarctica, rising over 16,000 feet above sea level.

In his media release, MP Dr Rai Ragbir says her accomplishment fills the constituency with immense national pride and gratitude.

He has hailed Ms Hosein as a true patriot and an inspiration.

The Cumuto/Manzanilla MP says this achievement comes shortly after the constituency celebrated the award of two national scholarships to Lakshmi Maharaj-Sookraj and Suraj Ramrattan of SWAHA Hindu College.
