MP calls for resignation/firing of Paria board

The Opposition is calling for the Paria Fuel Trading board to resign with immediate effect or be fired due to the 2022 deaths of four divers.

This call came during a media conference yesterday, following the laying of the Lynch Commission of Enquiry Report in the Parliament on Friday.

Among other things, the Commissioners said they found “sufficient grounds to conclude that Paria’s negligence could be characterised as gross negligence and consequently criminal.”

Barataria/San Juan MP Saddam Hosein insisted that heads must roll and that those responsible must be held accountable.

He also believes T&T’s laws were not updated enough to ensure ‘real justice’ adding that Parliament should work on legislation related to corporate manslaughter and corporate homicide.

Meanwhile, the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union is due to hold a media conference this morning to comment on the Lynch Report.
