A call is being made for Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales to be brought before the Joint Select Committee dealing with the Cyberattack on TSTT.
It comes from Princes Town MP Barry Padarath, after submissions yesterday from former TSTT CEO Lisa Agard and former TSTT CFO Shiva Ramnarine.
Ms Agard criticized TSTT’s Board for its handling of a cyberattack in October 2023 and claims she had to beg to be allowed to communicate the incident to the public.
She also denied misleading Minister Gonzales who told the Parliament that customer data was not compromised, a statement that he later had to apologize for.
Ms Agard and Mr Ramnarine also both claim to have been terminated from their positions without explanation.
Mr Padarath insists that Mr Gonzales must urgently address the issues raised, in the public interest.
The MP also outlined some very specific questions that he says are in need of answers:
- Whether it is true that Agard communicated directly with him providing updated and accurate information that he chose to disregard on October 31st 2023?
- Did the Minister through the board place a gag order on TSTT’s Executive Management in the aftermath of the cyberattack?
- Was the Minister made aware of the October 3rd breach and the alleged insubordination by middle management that withheld critical information from Ms. Agard and Mr. Ramnarine before they were fired?
- In light of allegations of conflicts of interest with members of the board and the operations of TSTT, was the Minister aware of these conflicts?
- Who instructed the board to fire Ms. Agard and Mr. Ramnarine and was due process and natural justice followed?
- In light of all the allegations of incompetence swirling around the politically appointed board of TSTT, why was the board not fired?
- What role did the Minister have in appointing Mr. Weston to act as CEO of TSTT?
- What is the nature of the relationship between the Chairman of TSTT, Mr. Weston and the Minister?
