MP calls for allocation to improve Praedial Larceny Squad

Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram is calling on the government to provide an allocation to develop the Praedial Larceny Squad.

In a statement, he said the Squad is short-staffed and does not have sufficient resources to protect farmers from theft.

He also claimed that last year, the estimate for the Squad’s infrastructural development was reduced from $9,000,000 to $3,000,000.

Mr Ratiram further claimed in the latest budget, the allocation was replaced with one for administrative services.

In the budget statement, Finance Minister Colm Imbert had said the Squad would be strengthened, but did not outline an allocation.
