Education as a crime-fighting tool is not simply creating good employees, but creating leaders with qualities required to change communities.
This is according to Tabaquite MP Anita Haynes-Alleyne who issued a statement in recognition of the International Day of Education yesterday.
The MP noted that while society is facing crime and criminality, schools are also seeing violent incidents.
She believes key interventions must be made through school curricula through the introduction of conflict resolution and emotional regulation courses, combined with a properly resourced Student Support Services Division and counseling.
This, Mrs Haynes-Alleyne said, would allow children to receive the tools required to better navigate their circumstances.
