MoWT: Bridal Road Bridge to be opened soon

The Works Ministry says the Bridal Road Bridge is set to be opened before the start of the new school term.

Work on the bridge has reportedly been underway for nearly a year, with several protests by residents over the past few months over the slow pace.

In an update shared today, the Ministry said final works are now being undertaken with regard to the reconstruction project

It says the scope of work included the reconstruction of a dual carriageway reinforced concrete bridge, inclusive of pedestrian access.

It adds that once the project is completed, benefits will include:

• Reduced traffic congestion by increasing the existing single lane to a dual carriageway
• Reduced flooding during high-intensity rainfall periods by creating a larger channel for runoff
• Greater accessibility to Chaguanas, Cunupia and Warren and surrounding Central areas
• Enhanced safety for both motorists and pedestrians traversing the Bridal Road area
