The Airports Authority of T&T has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Transportation to combat human trafficking.

Through the Blue Lightning Initiative, aviation personnel will be trained to detect, prevent, and report trafficking activities.

The Works and Transport Ministry says T&T is the first Caribbean nation to join this initiative.

It adds that this country’s participation reinforces its commitment to global security and human rights protection.

The MoU was signed yesterday.
