More than 20 people missing after avalanche in India

An avalanche near India’s border with Tibet this morning has trapped more than 20 construction workers near Mana Pass in Uttarakhand.

Blizzard-like conditions caused the avalanche at a worksite of the federal Border Roads Organisation.

Al Jazeera reported that disaster response teams are still trying to reach the high-altitude camp by helicopter.

The workers were engaged in a highway widening  project along a 50-kilometer stretch from Mana, the last village on Indian side, to the Mana Pass bordering Tibet.
