More on proposed electricity rate increases on Thursday

Tomorrow, persons will get the final word on proposed increases in electricity rates.

Regulated Industries Commission is due to host a media conference at 10am, regarding the Final Determination for the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Sector 2023 – 2027.

This follows a series of consultations, public and otherwise, to garner feedback on proposed rate increases.

The RIC’s Draft Determination proposed rate increases of between 15% and 64% for residential customers, depending on consumption.

There are also proposed increases of between 51% and 63% for commercial customers and between 72% and 126% for typical industrial customers.

The RIC also proposed a monthly billing cycle instead of a bill every two months.
