The number of lab confirmed Dengue cases has increased, however no additional deaths are being reported by the Health Ministry.
In an update today, it says there are 1,407 lab confirmed cases and 16 lab confirmed deaths.
Meanwhile with regard to efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, it says 1,142 yellow fever notices have been issued to property owners/occupiers, directing them to clean up their surroundings.
Of these, 53 have so far been identified for the consideration or institution of legal proceedings for non-compliance.
Dengue Fever may be spread by infected Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, with symptoms such as fever, headaches, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains, skin rash, nausea/vomiting and diarrhoea.
Persons with symptoms are advised to seek medical attention.
The Ministry adds that persons with symptoms should not use aspirin, motrin, cataflam, olfen or ibuprofen, as these can cause bleeding which leads to shock.
They are instead advised to use paracetamol, acetaminophen (Panadol/Tylenol) or medicines prescribed by a doctor.
