More illegal water trucking activity

WASA is sounding a warning about private water trucks, after it received reports of some private trucks reportedly filling from the washout of the Authority’s wellfields, in particular the Siparia and Scotts Road, Morne Diablo Well Fields.

The Authority says this activity is illegal and critically, as the water taken from washouts is untreated and unsafe for potable use, without undergoing the necessary treatment process to remove harmful pathogens.

Members of the public are therefore advised of the inherent health risks associated with purchasing truck borne water from private water contractors.

The Authority has taken immediate steps to increase security patrols at its wellfields and the security infrastructure of these facilities are being reviewed. Customers are asked to contact the Authority’s Security Department at 662-2318, to report any observation of illegal water abstraction at its Wells or other facilities and/or sale of same.

Customers are advised that all authorized water delivery trucks bear the Authority’s Corporate Logo and this service is available upon request at no cost.

The following self-service options are available:

  • WASA Services App available via the Play Store or Apple store; or
  • Customer Portal available on the Authority’s website: www.wasa.gov.tt.
