St Lucia’s Olympic champion Julien Alfred has been gifted EC$1 million, a parcel of land and other honours by the government, in commemoration of her achievements at Paris 2024.

Alfred won gold in the women’s 100m and silver in the 200m, becoming the first St Lucian to medal and win gold at the Games.

According to CMC, St Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre says, in addition to the money and land rewards, a section of highway would be renamed after Alfred and a monument would be placed on a roundabout.

She’ll also have a stamp designed in her honour and a series of exercise books bearing her picture will be released.
