The Local Government Ministry says over the course of Sunday and Monday, there were reports of 38 flooding incidents across seven municipal corporations.

There were also 24 incidents of fallen trees, 15 landslides/landslips, 12 reports of high winds and roof damage, three weather affected structures, and a fire in the Princes Town district.

Additionally, the Ministry’s incident report shows the distribution of 842 sandbags, seven mattresses, two sheet sets, 10 polythene sheets, and 28 tarpaulins during the period.

Following the inclement weather, a flood mitigation exercise is continuing in all 14 corporations, with additional equipment being dispatched to support ongoing efforts on the ground.

Meetings will also take place in the coming days to plan targeted interventions in different communities.

One such meeting is scheduled for today with the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation, as the area has been recognized as a sensitive flood-prone one.
