Ministry removes pipe rack at old Godineau Bridge

Oropouche West MP Dave Tancoo says the pipe rack attached to the old Godineau Bridge at the Mosquito Creek is finally being cleared by the Works Ministry.

The 36 inch transmission line ruptured in October last year, disrupting the water supply to thousands of households just before Divali.

While the pipeline was eventually re-routed, the collapsed infrastructure remained at the site.

In a statement, Mr Tancoo says while it is a welcome move, this should have been done months ago, since he and his colleagues in Oropouche East and Fyzabad have constantly spoken about the collapsed rack.

He says it caused a significant obstruction in the Godineau River, adversely affecting fishing vessels and posing a flooding risk for nearby residents.
