Talks are ongoing for the establishment of a Trinidad and Tobago-Chile Partial Scope Trade Agreement.
Today, Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon is at the opening of the fifth round of negotiations with Chilean delegates.
The Ministry says the successful completion of the agreement is expected to result in several benefits for the local economy, including the reduction in import duties for T&T’s goods and the removal of non-tariff barriers.
It adds that T&T’s reduction of import duties would result in cheaper inputs for the manufacturing sector, and more affordable consumer goods from Chile.
