Government says a number of projects aimed at improving T&T’s water supply are in the procurement and implementation phases.
According to the Public Utilities Ministry, government gained access of US$315 million over a 10-year period with the first operation of the loan being valued at US$80 million.
Projects to be undertaken under this first arrangement include the refurbishment of the Navet, Chatham, Guanapo, Freeport and North Oropouche Water Treatment Plants and the construction of two new plants in Santa Cruz and in Tobago at Goldsborough.
It will also include the construction of new wells in Freeport, Chatham, Penal and Tucker Valley, the replacement of aged pipelines and bulk metering.
