Public Administration Minister Allyson West says efforts are being made to reduce the amount spent to rent office space for Ministries and State agencies.
Ms West spoke during a media conference held this morning to respond to a newspaper report on the State’s rental bill for the DPP’s Office.
She revealed that the Government’s average rental expenditure is $23 million per month.
As a result, she said more State-owned buildings will be built, including a building on Duncan Street in Port of Spain for the Housing Ministry, and another for the Social Development Ministry on Victoria Avenue.
Concerning a work-from-home policy, Ms West said a bidder will be chosen soon.
This bidder will conduct a detailed review of the public service to determine which positions can become remote, following which a report will be submitted to the Government.
