The Health Minister says public health inspectors can fine persons $3,500 if their premises are breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
According to Guardian Media, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh made the announcement while speaking on today’s Morning Brew programme, amid public concern about dengue.
Mr Deyalsingh also addressed calls for spraying to curb the mosquito population.
Mr Deyalsingh also noted that the number of laboratory-confirmed dengue cases has risen from 123 three weeks ago, to 229 with two confirmed deaths.
He added that 90% of the cases are in counties Victoria, Caroni and St Patrick.
